Conservation Design
Educational Training | Zoning Inspectors Group
One way to preserve rural character is through conservation zoning. Through an appropriately designed planned unit development code, townships can foster the set-aside of substantial percentages of open space to protect woodlands, wetlands, pastures, and other natural and historic features while allowing the developer to increase the remaining density of housing on the parcel. This training will teach you how conservation design can lower the cost to the developer compared to traditional development through reduced need for infrastructure, increase the value of the house lots facing open spaces, and command a higher price.
