Law Directors Group training opportunities.
The Ohio Township Association's Law Directors Group provides continuing legal education and networking opportunities for attorneys who are township law directors, township legal counsel, county prosecutors, or counsel and are routinely retained by township governments.
In 2026, the Law Director's Group will meet 4 times virtually. At each meeting, 1-1.5 hours of approved General CLE will be offered. The Law Directors group is also a great resource for asking questions, and several requests for information are sent via this list throughout the year.
There is no cost to be a member of the Law Directors Group, but there is a cost to attend the training. Membership in the OTA provides a reduction in training fees. The list of members is maintained by OTA staff. If you want to be placed on the list, please email Michael Zaky.

Advising Townships During Union Negotiations

Description: Union negotiations present unique legal, financial, and operational challenges for townships and the attorneys who advise them. This session will provide township legal counsel with practical guidance on collective bargaining strategies, labor law considerations, contract negotiations, grievance issues, and maintaining productive relationships with union representatives while protecting township interests. Attendees will gain insight into preparing elected officials for negotiations, avoiding common legal pitfalls, and supporting effective long-term labor management practices.
