Housing Ohio: Tools for Development Guidebook

The Ohio REALTORS and the Greater Ohio Policy Center are releasing a Housing Ohio: Tools for Development guidebook designed to help local governments, developers, and community leaders overcome barriers to housing development across Ohio. The guide focuses on promoting infill development and making use of existing infrastructure to increase access to attainable, high-quality homes. Inside, you’ll find three voluntary tools:

  • A la carte zoning adjustments to unlock underutilized parcels;
  • Free, ready-to-use building plans for single-family homes and duplexes;
  • Guidance for establishing pre-approved building plan programs to streamline permitting processes.

This initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Ohio REALTORS®, the Greater Ohio Policy Center (GOPC), architects, builders, developers, planners, locally elected officials, and the Ohio Land Bank Association, bringing together expertise in housing, policy, and community development to create actionable solutions for Ohio’s housing needs.

The Ohio Township Association encourages townships with zoning to review the guidebook and consider how the proposed tools could work in your township.
