USDA Announces Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced the FY 2020 Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program. This program provides funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas. Eligible applicants include most state and local government entities, private non-profit organizations, and federally recognized Indian tribes.

In 2018, the program awarded a total of $783 million in funding through 266 awards.

Proposals are due on a rolling basis, and must serve rural areas and towns with fewer than 10,000 people. Eligible rural areas may be searched here. For more information on the program, go to the USDA's website.
