Franklin Township, Franklin County, is seeking a dynamic municipal professional for the position of a Part-time Finance Specialist. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to take a hands-on approach to budgeting, revenue collection, processing accounts payable and receivables, and fiscal and tax reporting.

Part-Time Finance Specialist (20-25 hours per week)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a financial position that is responsible for assisting the Administrative Department in the management and maintenance of all finance records and transactions in the Township.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK:

- Provides financial information to department heads and participates in the review and analysis of the township’s budget. May be required to make presentations to the Board of Trustees.
- Assist with all aspects of accounting & finance, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, permitting revenues, pensions, cash management, banking, auditing, internal control, budgeting, government & tax reporting
- Assists with the budgeting of the finance & administration departmental purchases.
- Prepares journal entries and provides in-depth account analysis as needed.
- Prepares pension fund information
- Complete account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Compiles reports and correspondence; researches, prepares, and files required reports and forms to federal, state, and local agencies. Assist with the preparation of all year-end financial reports.
- Other duties, as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Uniform Accounting Network (UAN), preferred
ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with employee information and records.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complicated problems.
- Ability to interact with the general public, staff, and Township Officials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience involving fiscal and budgetary activities in a governmental, private, or non-profit organization.
- Knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning, organization and functions of governmental accounting, payroll and accounts payable functions, budgetary accounting, and reporting systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the workday.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
