Governor's Task Force on Volunteer Fire Service Releases Report
On February 7th, the Governor's Task Force on the Volunteer Fire Service released its report indicating its findings and recommendations to the Governor. Led by State Fire Marshall Kevin Reardon, the report discusses the need for volunteer fire departments to be adequately funded, properly resourced with equipment, trained with efficient personnel who can respond within a reasonable timeframe, and housed within fire stations that are built to current building standards. The OTA has closely monitored this report due to the large percentage of Ohio's fire personnel working for volunteer departments.
Marshall Kevin Reardon recently discussed the Task Force and the issues it was tackling in an educational session at the 2023 Winter Conference, and you can access that discussion here.
