Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Blendon Township is a dynamic and vibrant Township that offers a senior center dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults. Our mission is to provide enriching programs, resources, and opportunities for social connection, personal growth, and active living.

The Senior Center Bus Driver will be responsible for safely transporting senior citizens to and from the center and other designated locations, such as grocery stores, medical appointments, and community events. This part-time position requires a dedicated and compassionate individual who enjoys working with older adults and is committed to ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate a bus or van to transport senior citizens according to a set schedule.
  • Assist passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety.
  • Provide friendly, courteous service while helping passengers with special needs, including those using walkers or wheelchairs.
  • Perform routine checks (fuel, oil, tire pressure, etc.) to ensure the vehicle is maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Report any maintenance issues or necessary repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations, always ensuring passenger safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel usage, and passenger numbers.
  • Communicate effectively with the Senior Center staff regarding scheduling, routes, and any concerns with passengers.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must possess a CDL Class B license with a passenger endorsement.
    • Clean driving record with no major violations.
    • Prior experience in transportation, especially with older adults, is preferred.
    • Ability to physically assist passengers with mobility issues, including operating a wheelchair lift if necessary.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, patient, and compassionate demeanor.
    • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
    • Knowledge of local roads and routes to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.
    • Other duties include assisting with setting up and taking down tables and other related duties as assigned by the Senior Center Director.
    • Must be at least 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States of America. 
    • High School diploma or equivalent. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members.

    WORK HOURS:
    • Part-time, typically 3 days per week, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend trips.
