A lifelong resident of the village of Ansonia, Ed Huff has served as a Darke County township trustee for over 20 years. His first experience with township government came while doing construction work. He continued to learn about local government, and eventually ran for an elected position.

“I used to haul blacktop and know a lot about roadwork. I think it helped get me elected, because people trusted me and knew I would do the right thing,” he says.

Huff’s mom and dad continue to motivate him. They are deaf, which Ed says gave him a keen understanding at an early age of how to care for people. His grandparents have been the biggest influence in his life. His grandfather owned a fertilizer company, and Ed says he taught him to treat people fairly and that helping people is what life is all about.

Ed has owned his own businesses since 1973. He first ran a construction business and now operates Huff Home Inspection. When he’s not busy with inspections or township business, Ed enjoys golfing and spending time with his family — including his wife of 36 years, Denise, three kids, Jenna, Nicholas and Jessica, and four grandchildren.

If he could have dinner with anyone, he says it would be John F. Kennedy because he appreciates his saying, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
