HB 523 Medical Marijuana & Townships

April 19, 2017

Ohio's medical marijuana law went into effect on September 8, 2016, and there is a lot of confusion around how this will impact businesses and what employees can and can't do. To help businesses prepare for this new law, Working Partners®, has created the Ohio Marijuana HB 523 Coaching Package. Included in the package is:

  • A 16-minute video explaining the law, impact on Ohio employers, and appropriate actions to take
  • An Employee Notice – to be printed and posted in the workplace, designed to inform employees that their company’s position on marijuana has not changed
  • Coaching resources – to help businesses further understand specific aspects of medical marijuana

This package of information is available for purchase for $30. Click here to purchase Ohio's Marijuana HB 523 Coaching Package.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation recommends employers set-up drug-free workplace policies in preparation for the state's medical marijuana law which goes into effect next month. To read BWC's fact-sheet on medical marijuana, please click here.

Additionally, there have been numerous presentations on this topic at OTA events in the last year.

Finally, several townships have provided the OTA with resoultions that they have passed relating to medical marijuana facilities.  If you would like a copy of those resolutions, please contact the OTA office.
